"Is the Cabinet of Dr. Caligary a Nicholas Cage movie?"

    "Is the Cabinet of Dr. Caligary a Nicholas Cage movie?" is what I said to my mom after we finished watching The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. 

I had no clue it was one of the original movies that began the film industry. 

    I really enjoyed watching the film in class. I had never seen an old film like this before so it was very interesting to see how movies were written, paced, and edited back then. I absolutely loved the set design, and how it was theater sets. I love the combination of those two mediums.  Another aspect was the stage and camera framing and position. It felt very modern, there was never a camera angle that felt off or weird. It all felt very natural to how movies are filmed today. I think that what stood out to me most about the film was how modern it felt.  

It was also very cool to see the Nicholas Cage version. I'm so sad they had to cut it from the film, it would of given me some better context into why the movie kept mentioning the Cabinet of Dr. Caligary. After watching the deleted scene, it really put into perspective how the concept of the movie could still hold its ground in today's modern movie setting. It is a testament to the film itself that a german movie made so long ago is still considered a great invention to this day!

Having seen the Cabinet of Dr. Caligary, I definitely want to watch The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent again to understand the references!
